Chicago · Write · Produce · Curate · Gather

Stories, spaces & gatherings people remember.

Led by MeMe Wallace, Whew Chile Productions is a Black woman owned media house in Chicago. We write the story, produce it for the page, the mic, or the screen, curate the details that give it a feeling, and gather people around it.

What We Do

Four ways to work together.

Good production starts with good writing, and the best experiences start with a story. Pick the pillar you need, or bring us a project that touches all four.

01 / PAGE

Write Flagship

Scripts · Books · Copy

The words come first. Structure, voice, and the line that makes someone lean in, edited the way a copy desk edits: closely and honestly.

  • Script writing: feature, pilot, short
  • Memoir & book writing, developmental edits
  • Treatments & synopses
  • Copywriting & brand content
  • Ghostwriting and interview-based legacy books

Produce

Podcasts · Film · Research

From the first question to the finished piece. Podcasts, documentaries, series, music videos, and stage productions, with the research to back every conversation.

  • Podcast production, launches & hosting
  • Research writing & guest research
  • Sit-down interviews & documentary filming
  • Film, series, music video & theatre production support
  • Directing, location scouting & sound design

03 / TASTE

Curate

Music · Places · Finds

The right song under the right scene. The right restaurant, shop, gift, or candle. If it makes a moment feel better, we love finding it for you.

  • Music supervision & scene scoring: song pairing for film, TV, shorts & content
  • Custom playlists for brands, events & productions
  • Taste concierge: places, food, stores & gift finds
  • Custom city guides & gift guides

Gather

Hosting · Events · Conversation

Great conversation is a craft. We host and shape the rooms where people connect: premieres, panels, dinner tables, and game nights.

  • Media event hosting: panels, premieres & live moments
  • Moderated conversation dinners
  • Dinner party & game night hosting
  • Brand and film-launch gatherings, with baked treats on request

How We Work

Draft, shape, deliver.

Every project, written, produced, curated, or hosted, moves through the same four passes.

I. 00:00

First Draft

We meet, we listen, and we get your idea down in a first working version before anything else moves.

II. 00:08

Revision

Every detail gets marked up and tightened, structure first and polish second, until it holds.

III. 00:16

Production

Camera, mic, playlist, or guest list: we put the plan into motion and carry it through.

IV. 00:24

Delivery

Proofed, polished, and delivered: a script ready to shoot, a show ready to launch, or a room ready to welcome guests.

Leadership

MeMe Wallace.

Whew Chile Productions was built on the belief that Black women’s stories, in all their joy, complexity, and brilliance, deserve to be written well before they’re ever filmed. MeMe leads as a working actress, executive producer, writer, director, and host, shaping every project from first draft to final cut.

Her curiosity goes beyond the page. She loves learning what makes people tick, setting a great song against the perfect scene, finding the best candle in the city, and hosting the kind of evening people talk about for weeks. That love of people, story, and detail is what makes this studio different.
